A scan of Haaretz headlines, and hearing many interviews with Israeli and IDF `spokesmen` on the radio here in the US make it VERY clear that the Government of Israel having touted this as The War to End Hamas and the threat of rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza, is changing it`s tune.
This is now, and it appears always was, a limited operation undertaken for political effect.
Hamas is to be left largely intact. The capability to launch rockets against Israel will persist.
The political career of Ehud Barak has been redeemed.
