It`s clear that Gaza is nowhere near ready to accept the responsibilities of statehood. Israel would prefer to be rid of any connection to Gaza, as was the case pre-1967, as long as it`s a quiet border without rockets and infiltration. Egypt doesn`t want it, though it was under Egyptian military control from 1950-1967. Hamas is too dedicated to a jihadist struggle against Israel, and the PA already had its chance. It doesn`t deserve to have it handed on a platter after Israel spilt its blood there.
So let`s see the UN take responsibility for it. Then, when they fail, they can`t blame Israel, though they`ll try. |
