This ridiculously disproportionate aggression is the best thing that ever happened to Hamas in particular, and to Islamism in general. Much like the American disaster in Iraq, this will further enrage and radicalize Muslims who could otherwise be rational. And I don`t blame them. With its actions, Israel is not just harming itself, it is harming the interests of all the governments that for now support it.
The Israelis despair about the rockets fired at their towns, having for several years deprived Gaza of supplies, slowly strangling it to death. I know Israel did so for a reason, it is the tactic that I find stupid and self-defeating. So, having done this, you guys are surprised about the rockets, about increased support for Hamas? All you seem to be capable of doing is harming your own long term interests with every decision you make. |
