The government of Gaza is made up of Hamas that was voted overwhelmingly into office as part of the Palestinian Authority by the residents of Gaza.
Hamas later took over through brutal force total control of Gaza away from the Palestinian Authority and for all practical purposes establoished its own independent Islamist-Arab state.
It is this state and its armed forces against which Israel is fighting at present time, after having attempted to reach an accomodation of peaceful co-existence with it based on: recognition of Israel`s right to exist, adherance to agreements already signed and the end of all acts of violence against Israel and terror against its civilian polulation.
In other words, those who speak for the Gazans have been committing crimes against humanity and war crimes for an extended period of time. Yet, Israel does not target those who have elected Hamas into ruling Gaza. It only targets the rulers of this political entity and its armed forces. |
