An interesting theory. Even if there is an element of truth in it Israel is known to have acted against American wishes in the past. The presure of the Israeli public on the government, the rulling party`s wishes to enhance their image before the forthcoming elections coupled with the fact that Bush is practically out means that Israel will definitely reply to the Gazan militants with a significant force.
The American - Israeli friendship is based on more than sympathy and a major operation by IDF in Gaza is not likely to make a dent on this relationship. |
