I`m not horrified. I`m not shocked. I`m not embarrassed. Nor am I offended.
Private organizations can accept whom they want and can deny entrance to whom they want. It`s called private enterprise.
Does every applicant to Hebrew University get accepted? Whether they can pay the tuition or not? Or The Technion? Or any place?
Do some of the more exclusive apartment residences in Tel Aviv accept everyone just because they can come up with the rental fees? No. Why would a daycare be obliged to adhere to a different philosophy?
If the parents want the child to learn Hebrew, there are tutors who will be happy to oblige. Or perhaps the Arab daycare centers can be encouraged to teach Hebrew. Or, for that matter, public schools in Arab villages. Jewish public schools have taught Arabic for years to their Jewish students. Not that stunning a concept.
This is my third post on this topic. Let`s see if Ha`aretz has the guts to publish. So far -- they haven`t. |
