While this article exhibits how racism is alive and well, it also shows how a majority of Israelis are interested in a peaceful coexistence. As an American Jew who has lived in Israel, I know that there is ill-will and distrust amongst the varied population in the Holy Land, and it exists in every which way; everyone has (at least in their own opinion) a legitimate gripe against the other.
While this article does not state specifically which Israelis (Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druzim, etc.) called the family in support and which day-cares offered to take in the Arab kids, I would like to think that in both cases Jewish Israelis offered their support and regret for the racist actions of their brothers and sisters. |
