"Wish I knew what a short operation to topple Hamas meant."

It means what it meant in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008.

There will be a major but brief operation which accomplishes nothing worthwhile.

Then because of the expense and the force structure of the IDF Southern Command, the operation will be halted, and things will return to abnormal.

The kiddies fantasize about big things, but those of the Donald Rumsfield Military Academy school of thought will never conduct the kind of massive permanent garrisoning of Gaza that would be necessary to end the threat of Palestinian retaliation.

Next year, there will be another `short operation` after outrage in Israel demands it. The IDF will roll back in, and shoot up the place, then pull out. . . and the year after that. . .

The psycho-right has big plans Mark of Lewiston, but they only want to conduct `short operations.`

And `short operations` have no chance of success.

Otherwise they would have worked last year.
