| Haaretz endorses every appeasement policy and opposes just about every Israeli attempt to preserve/defend the Jewish state. Therefore, this editorial is par for the course. Also, as usual, Haaretz fails even to address the obvious factors that militate against its position - for instance, what does Haaretz say about Assad`s lionization of Sammi Kuntar ? ( About a month ago, Assad gave him a medal in a Damascus ceremony , at which time he declared Kuntar was a "hero for all Arabs"). Sound like a "partner for peace" ? Or how about Assad`s several pronouncements that there will never be peace as long as Israel is a Jewish state ? None of this bothers Haaretz. And does Haaretz really believe Assad will forsake Hezbollah and Hamas ? Finally, Olmert is banking on the left to save his crooked butt from serving time - I think this is part of his enthusiasm for yet another suicidal Israeli initiative. |
