"Six Israeli prime ministers have come and gone since the 1991 Madrid Conference that opened the Syrian channel for the first time." - Aluf Benn
That is a new government every 2.8 years.
How can any nation accomplish any long-term task when it`s governments topple every few years?
"Both concessionists - Yitzhak Rabin, Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert - and refuseniks - Yitzhak Shamir, Benjamin Netanyahu and Ariel Sharon - eventually reached the same dead-end." - Aluff Benn
Every time someone who might move towards peace opens the door a crack they are replaced by someone who slams it.
"both sides conscientiously adhere to the separation of forces agreement reached in 1974" - Aluf Benn
But no one notices.
"The chances for success are dependent on the political will of both sides to reach an agreement." - Aluff Benn
And Israel`s political system is incapable of any form of consistence or coherence.
Today`s government can be gone tomorrow. It is almost certain to not last 4 years. |
