i think you`re way off on your interpretation of the saudi plan. first of all, it has NOTHING to do with iran; except maybe as a prelude to a middle-east alliance "against" it. it`s an "arab" peace initiative submitted to the league of arab states, which have agreed and approved it every year since it was first proposed; it DOES not make ANY reference to iran or "other islamic states! and aside from the acceptance and recognition of israel, it specifies normalized relations, cooperation, and trade...and if you ask me, there might even be the subtle reference to a regional alliance. the hints are there...and iran(which is NOT arab), is a common threat to region. it`s probably the biggest opportunity israel has EVER had to not only ensure it`s future security and prosperity in the region, but ALSO to become an accepted and active partner in regional affairs. simply put, the most significant way that israel could possibly defuse iran`s influence in the region would be to accept the arab peace initiative. and it`s sad for me, and i think for others who see the same, that israel has yet to seriously address this proposal...especially since it`s been individually negotiating two of the three MAJOR concessions required by the proposal. |
