Short of sending in three divisions and creating chaos and devastation amongst the civilian population. Afterwards, thousand of troops and police would be required to effectively police the area. Obviously this is not the answer...! The real answer lies in the carrot and stick diplomacy, with Egypt and Jordan on board, Israel must recognize the past failures and rectify through dialog, no matter how difficult it may be. Its not just a question of taking out a terrorist army, one has to take into consideration that at least 40 % of the current Gaza population are quite happy to relocate to the West Bank. These folks are indeed held hostage by Hamas. The collateral damage would be equal to the Russian attack on Grozny. Israel cannot afford to wait any longer, its time for decision making, unfortunately as Mr.Olmerts blood may boil, Mr.Barak may be pushed into an invasion, especially with Ms.Livni now calling for unseating the Hamas Leadership. Cool heads must prevail, its better than war |
