Both Israel and Hamas have to come to the conclusion that when you paint yourself into a corner and have no way to get out, it makes no sense to go back over the wet floor and paint yourself right back in again. Civilians on both sides are already suffering the intolerable and still we continue with the same thing. Logic dictates that if rocket fire has not worked on us and blackouts and blockades have not worked on them, it?s time to try something else. We have nothing to lose by talking and everything to lose and nothing to gain by escalation. To heck with recognition, a change in the charter, or other décor ? we need quiet. No, we are not going to turn them into Zionists, but we can at least save some lives among miserable people on both sides. If Israel does not shoot and lifts the blockade ? which has not been tried -will Hamas stop shooting? Enough killing, enough climbing high trees, enough evening up the score already. Initiate talks with Hamas. See who answers. |
