| "Big mistake on the part of Hammas" - Jaime Traditionally - and meaning for over 20 years, Hamas has facilitated Likud victories by attacks on Israel in the period immediately before elections. The `peace` wing of Hamas had their moment and were just as firmly rejected as Abbas. So now the war wing seems to be back in charge. They tend to take a view similar to Likud, that any accommodation and a two-state solution are out of the question. Better for them if hard line Likud is in than any coalition with more moderate inclinations. The extremists on both sides have won as they did in the years after Oslo. All that can be done now is watch the festivities. |
