Resolution 242 was adopted unanimously by the UN Security Council on November 22, 1967 in the aftermath of the Six Day War. The resolution was drafted by British ambassador Lord Caradon and was one of five drafts under consideration.
It calls for "the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East which should include the application of both the following principles: (i) Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict” (ii) Termination of all claims or states of belligerency" and respect for the right of every state in the area to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries.

Lord Caradon the principal architect himself wrote: "We didn`t say there should be a withdrawal to the `67 line; we did not put the `the` in, we did not say all the territories, deliberately We all knew - that the boundaries of `67 were not drawn as permanent frontiers. We did not say that the `67 boundaries must be forever; it would be insanity".

So?
