going in the (un)holy land for over 100 years, from the time when the first Zionist settlers bribed Ottoman officials to sieze land from Palestinians and sell it to them or bought land from other fraudulent "owners". Not at all different from the reality behind my own country`s story of buying Manhattan from natives for a handful of glass beads. We rarely mention that the people involved in the transaction weren`t the actual inhabitants, just a nearby rival tribe posing as the rightful owners. Of particular note is the casual mention that "Palestinians registered as owners of West Bank land are often dead or live abroad." Could you breeze over such an explosive (pun intended) fact any more dismissively? And of course, Itay Harel`s statement that "Anyone who claims the land is his is lying, and it is said that if you lie enough times, you start believing it." That statement could never be more true than when applied to the settlers. |
