Seriously what on earth is their long term strategy?
They do not have the power to invade Israel on their own, and all the Muslim states with the exception of Syria and Iran have turned their backs on them, so their goes any affective alliance.
They want to take over the West Bank that much is obvious, but do they honestly think that by starting things up in Gaza they will be distracting the IDF and the Israeli government?
Do they think after another spat they can negotiate for a better truce? Perhaps, but how many times do they think they can do that? Eventually anyone would get fed up and decide it is simply easier to clear them (Hamas) out.
My only conclusion is that Hamas does not have a long term strategy and is simply stalling hoping for a better opportunity, or for bigger players to get involved. This is a fool?s errand which could cost them everything. |
