| The perspective is that the Palestinians are a colonised people. That has been their position for over 60 years. Without even mentioning Israel`s seeding of Hamas in the early days, it should be no surprise to anyone that there is such resistance. It is simply an example that the Palestinians are not better than human, as they are apparently required to be by Israel, most of the West and others. Until this expectation, which is only truly integral to Zionism, changes, real (long term) peace is as far away as ever. To look for something good to say about the siege of Gaza: over the years I have become acquainted with a good number of Jewish people who having been brought up Zionist could not quite bring themselves to abandon Zionism; many of them now have. Hopefully this is happening everywhere. |
