| While it is true that Jewish Federations and charities have done much good work and are owed gratitude and respect by the Jewish community - there is another side to this story. On the local level Federation leadership has alienated a large number of Jews from involvement. This has been due to snobbery and classism based upon wealth. If you are not part of the monied elite you are basically persona non grata and treated in a most condescending and disrespectful manner.Think about this- Mr. Madoff appeared to have two passions in life- greed and being a Jewish philanthropist "Macher" |
