| While I can find no sympathy for those who trusted Madoff to make them richer, I can only regret his swindling of charities. That is hurting people who needed those charities and their works, and were not just greedy people being taken by a greedier one. Those people had no chance to question Madoff and his activities. They probably never even knew he existed. I can find out how much Madoff spent buying politicians of both parties. I do not know how much he gave to charity, or how much of it he might have stolen right back. "A poor man pleads for mercy, but a rich man answers harshly." - Proverbs 18:23 "Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man?s friend deserts him." - Proverbs 19:4 "Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless." - Isaiah 10:1-2 |
