| Apart from North Korea, it would be hard to find a country which is not in the UN. Even Myanmar is a member, so its merits as morally sound institution are moot. Even so, Israel has to make the best of a bad situation, and is perfectly in its rights to expel a UN representative who has no other agenda than to underpin the existential threats to Israel emanating from the Gaza strip and West Bank by atributing UN values to such existential threats. It must also be remembered that the UN fought tooth and nail to avoid having to recognise Israel in 1948, but makes every effort to categorise those displaced from Israel as war refugees, which makes it impossible for them to be relocated to new homes in the region and/or abroad. For the UN, Israel does not exist, since Israel was not sanctioned by the UN to exist. |
