Based on their experience in the recent war with Georgia, Russia is currently making intense efforts to immediately buy and later manufacture under license either Elbit?s Hermes or Israel Aerospace Industry?s Heron systems. In Europe the UK?s Watchkeeper system based on the Hermes led the way and is about to deploy. French, German and other European UAV deployments based on Israeli platforms are expected.
