| The problem with your line of thinking is that wishes don`t come true just because. The US invaded Iraq in the hopes of creating a democracy that could be a model in the region, pretty flawed from its conception. Wrong policies have a way of lingering effects, well actually domino-effect. You can`t take the region out of its historical and cultural context and just apply wishful thinking to it. This mentality is precisely what got us into the mess and will keep us there until it is recognized and ratified. Your coldhearted threat or warning or whatever the hell that was wouldn`t bring you your desired results. There is tangible probability of regime change ONLY if it is done through the Iranians themselves, not outside forces. By threatening the nation you only rally them around the government (remember the US a few yrs ago?). We changed the regime in Tehran in the 50`s only to get the mullahs in return. Not so wise, don`t you think? |
