You both seem to think that the US and EU should just butt out. Do you realize what that would mean for the Israeli taxpayer?
As the occupying power, the Israeli taxpayer would have to pay for all public services in the occupied territories. Every single dime the US and EU currently pay for teachers, doctors, hospitals, food aid, fuel, police, firefighting, school administration. The aid to the PA is aid to Israeli taxpayers, too.
The only reason the US and EU currently bear these costs is in hope of a peace agreement. Kill the idea of a peace agreement and the aid goes away. Then the Israeli taxpayer is stuck. Of course, you are free to share your personal $$Billions annually.
Even Netanyahu know this which is why he is eager to assuage the diplomats` fears.
