This is an excellent point , and a wonderful thought. However , which Israeli Arab would be willing to give up his Israeli citizenship to be a citizen of Abbas or his followers??? It is unrealistic. The only way is to say that Israel is a Jewish State - Arabs are not equal citizens in Israel and don`t enjoy equal rights. If they state their loyalty to Israel and it can be proven, he can stay. However if not he must leave. Also, he must be cognizant of the fact that he is a secondary citizen , and always a potential suspect of betrayal and therefore, will be prone to special treatment at airports and other security sensitive installations.
The biggest hurdle is convince the Jewish leaders and politicians that Israel is a Jewish State - as stated in the charter of the State, and not a plurilistic gathering of all nations , like the US. Israel is a homeland for the Jewish nation and it`s people, and not a home for African or imported Muslims . |
