| This so called alternative carol is the work of cranks who never really grew up. Its more on the level of a silly schoolgirl prank, and as `k` quite rightly says only some silly liberals in an almost empty church would take much note of it. BUT when an Israeli Ambassador gives the whole matter his undivided attention, what he actually does is provide the whole pointless episode with the oxygen of publicity it really doesn`t deserve. Surely the Ambassador has other far more important matters to concern himself with: Gaza, the West Bank, the infinite machinations of the settler enterprise replete as it is these days with overtly racist settlers ready to carry out pogroms on Palestinians, the parlous state of Israel`s international reputation, causing as much anxiety amongst Jews in the Diaspora as amongst Israelis, the ugly emergence of fascist politicians on a party list in contention for the upcoming election - to name but a few. |
