From this poll it would seem that way, but remember two things:
1. Most Israelis are living life and trying to get by, like all people. They are mostly not too concerned with UN votes, demographic issues, etc, but vote based on who they think will protect, and who represents their interests economically, with schools etc. Also many Israelis vote base don ethnic/religious lines with the middle eastern Jews and religious tending to vote right, in the same way that most Black americans vote democrat, and more Christian middle Americans tend to vote Republican, most people aren`t news junkies, like me and you.
2. The only two prime ministers to remove settlements were the two seemingly most right-wing ones the country ever has had, Menachem Begin and Ariel Sharon. While people like Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert were elected on the platform of territorial compromise, but ended up being unable to come through. |
