Just heard a lecture in NY by one of the mavens of Better Place. Their plan is, at least in the U.S., is:
Generate energy from wind at night and feed to grid.
Charge battaries at night from the grid. Charge provides enough energy for 100 miles.
If you want to drive more than that, you pull into a (yet to exist) battary change station just as you would a gas station. At the change station, they exchange your depleted battary for a fully charged one. Better Place would own all the battaries.
Not sure what the source for charging at night in Israel would be since wind power doesn`t make much sense in Israel within the green line, I`m told. |
