"Twenty-plus kilometers is the maximum range of Hamas` rockets in the Strip (which can hit Sderot, Ashkelon, Netivot and Kiryat Gat); 40 kilometers is the range they will be able to reach in the coming months, if missile production is not halted (Ofakim, Kiryat Malachi, Ashdod, Be`er Sheva and Yavneh will be at risk of attack); 70 kilometers is the range the Palestinians are striving to reach."
Normally Haaretz is careful not to stir things up, but where`s the proof that Hamas will be able to double the range of its rockets, let alone more than triple it?
The current range seems to have remained fixed for a long time. Why the sudden increase?
Obviously even the current range is a problem, but to start talking about Hamas hitting Jerusalem seems unneccesarily alarmist. |
