Indeed, Brzezinski`s tenure haunts American foreign policy to this day. His obsession with the USSR led him to the disasterous Afghan policy. Brzezinski`s policies were not informed by multiple understandings of culture and society, but by a single minded anti-Communist agenda. Had Afghanistan been left alone, the USSR would have crumbled of its own accord. Today`s Iran, with its nuclear weapons development, and its export of terror is a catastrophic inheritence from the Carter-Brzezinski years. |
