Shalom,
Given the fact that the Gaza area has been more volatile previously than what it is currently, and that Ehud Barak is doing a fine job in merely tagetted defence (which is what is required in circumstances of a de-escalation of hostilities under a ceasefire agreement), rather than full-scale assault, which would jeopardise peace, and increase volatility in the Gaza region, I do not see the reason for Livni`s attacks at her fellow Government colleague. Barak is justified in commenting that Livni is merely shoring up votes to her Right. Moreover, given Livni`s role as chief negotiator for peace with the PA of Mahmoud Abbas, whom himself needs shoring up amongst his own ranks, as Hamas is splitting against him, does it not reduce her credibility in any further negotiations, and generally undermine the peace process? Given that Obama is the upcoming US President, I find it very odd for Livni to suggest that Ehud Barak is not very trendy. It should be Barak asking Livni question |
