You are usually quite well informed and seems to be the rational intrellectual type, however I must confess that your post perplexed me a bit.
The CIA operation that you are refering to must surely have ended prior to the introduction of Bush the younger. I mean, I very well remember Bill Clinton bombing Al Quaida camps with cruiser missiles, Or were you only refering to ISI (your post seemed to entwine them) and Taliban?
From what I know (though I confess that I might not be right), one of the many grievances that Al quaida and the Taliban had with the US prior to 2001, was the abandonment of the Mujahedin by the USA, after the Soviet U. withdrew.
Also, as far as i know, ISA played ball with the Taliban (and is rumouered to still do) prior to 2001, when Bush the younger stated the infamous " either you are with us, or you`r with the terrorists".
I find your post to be contradicting what I thought I knew. Please do explain or at least ellaborate.
