| Israel the idea, and Israel the reality, could not be more opposite. We think that Israel is the land of Torah, the Light unto the Nations, and the ultimate fulfillment of our dreams. Then we run into corruption, pornography, bureaucracy, and (in my case - twice) dishonest builders, or lawyers. A contract is not a contract, it is the opening point of discussion, debate, and litigation. The attachment of Satmar is to the land, and to the ideal Israel. But to swear allegiance to the likes of Olmert is another matter. It is not just that the Messiah has not yet come. It is that Israel`s leaders seem ready to oppose him when he does. |
