I think that India Israeli relations should definitely continue to grow as we both have a common threat. With regards to Garry`s question, one must understand the context of India`s foreign policy, esp. towards nations that tend to be more polarized, politically sensitive such as Israel.
India is an extremely diverse, large country with huge populations and quite a bit of poverty. Politics, along with spirituality are the biggest businesses in India. People seeking office will bribe, cheat, lie and steal their way into office. They will sleep with the devil.
Currently, the administration is Congress Party. CP has historically appeased the 18 or so percent Muslim population - even when they have attacked Hindus without cause. Even Hindu leaders with Congress have needed to do this to win votes against the BJP party - a nationalistic, Hindu organization.
