| Diaspora secular Jews, especially in smaller communities are prone to marrying out, due to assimilating their country`s culture, whereas Israeli secular Jews are prone to marrying in, probably not by choice, just by sheer numbers. So although not frum, with a continuity of our people as a committment, the secular Israeli does play an important role in ensuring our future. My secular friends from Arab countries did not have the "luxury" of assimilation, and intermarriage due to risk of life. Another thought, I resent this cavalier attitude from some Israeli friends, that just because I haven`t mastered Ivrit nor served in the Army, that as a chutznik, I should shut up and not be allowed to voice opinions. Sometimes the chutznik may have sound opinions to offer, perhaps this is because he can think outside the box. |
