The truth is that the `who is a Jew?" conroversy is a non starter because the religion/nationality hybrid is an anomaly.
In fact true Judaism is the Judaism of the Halakha- Rabbinic Judaism which was created after the fall of Jerusalem and the rise of Christianity- that branch of Messianic Judaism.
The truth is that you cannot eat pork and be a `true` Jew as much as you cannot be a `true` Muslim if you do not pray towards Mecca 5 times a day or be a `true` a Christian if you do not accept Jesus as your saviour. Israelis who do not follow the tennets of Judaism are Israelis, that`s all. American `Jews` who do not follow Rabbinic Judaism`s instructions are Americans who think they are Jews. Mumbling few words in Yiddish and going to Shul twice a year does not cut it. |
