What an outrageous proposal! The first thing that comes to my mind is the symmetrically opposed campaign by the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation to name children after Stanislawa Slawinska, a Polish catholic woman who gave shelter to several Jews, at her own home in war-time Poland. We learned from Moti Katz (Ha`aretz - Nov 14) that thanks to the Wallenberg Foundation`s research efforts, Slawinska was recently recognized as Righteous by Yad Vashem and three generations of her family have met with three generations of Esfira Maiman, one of the people saved by the Polish heroine. |
