The `special relationship` goes back to Harry Truman. He had a Jewish business partner in the 20s and loathed the `Israeli lobby` in the 1940s.
That did not keep him from recognizing Israel.
Israel has endangered the `special relationship` by being blatantly and intrusively partisan in American politics.
But it probably isn`t fatal.
But having a suck-up, kiss-ass like Olmert acting like he has the last week might be.
When he gets off his knees and stops worshiping Bush someone should restrain him for the sake of Israel.
The man is either unhinged or merely a disgusting toady.
Under any circumstances less than a quarter of Americans still suck up to Bush like Olmert does.
It cannot leave a good impression.
He is asking a man who is despised by his nation, dragged his party down to a scathing defeat, and has wrecked his nation to bestow favor upon Israel.
Right now Bush could say he liked chocolate and the coco nut market would tank. |
