is let to bleed to death-supposed to be less painfull.I think it goes back to the ancient times, when people not having refrigeration,simply hacked of a leg or something-the animal lived on three legs,untill the next meal-time-so, compared to slowly hacking away at an animal while alive,it is more humane-at least, this is the story a man realated-don`t know if it`s true.

The animal`s blood is drained and ,additionally, it`s supposd to be soaked in salt water-I think for an hour -being an idiot,I forget-but this process eliminates more of the blood from the animal-this process probably kept the meat fresh longer-I`m guessing.

religion may have come with good intent but some of my friends were scared to death for violating a law-a friend`s grandmother told her that if her cut nails were not properly disposed,she would return to look for every piece after death-these laws were meant for sanitary reasons,I guess, with out modern medicines,good sanitary habits were a dire necessity.
