| Leveling Iran would have two results - After a massive US attack, the Iranians would have nothing left to lose and every reason to hurt America as much as possible. As I noted asymmetric warfare is easy to do and hard to counter. Air power would NOT, repeat NOT, be able to keep the straits open. It would require a massive invasion force of several million soldiers (AKA cannon fodder) to prevent Iranian retaliation. The cost to the US would be very high and it is doubtful that even a large invasion force could keep the straits open. |
