| suffer much more. As I noted in another post, it is insanely easy to close the straits and massively costly to try to reopen them with force, and the US does NOT have the resources to stop Iran. As for Obama, he will NOT be able to get Iran to back off its nuclear plans and he/Clinton will have to just have to back off and let Iran proceed, no matter what Israel wants. The US economy is far too fragile to risk war with Iran. A war, it should be noted, that the US would lose, even worse than it has lost in Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam. In the end Iran would kill lots of Americans and get nuclear weapons - a lose-lose situation for Israel. Also, after the US loses, Iran will still have all their oil in the ground to pay for the war, whereas the US will be bankrupt. Between a lot of stupidity in the US and the "normal" shifts of power that happen throughout history, Iran now has the US in checkmate. So, from a relative pain perspective the US has a lot more to lose than Iran does. |
