and has been for the past 17 months in spite of the international community`s refusal to admit that the Gaza Strip is geographically and politically a separate entity from the West Bank and the repeated failures of the reconciliation talks between the PA and Hamas to even get off the ground. Maybe Obama will have the insight to realize that the two-state solution (Israel and the Islamic Republic of Palestine) is out and that the three-state solution (Israel, Fatahland, and Hamastan) is the only game left in town, but I doubt it. It will take a few more decades before the international community will resign itself to the reality of the situation.
How many times was Arafat (MHRIH) relected to the post of President of the PA after his initial election in 1994? Didn`t he just rule by Presidential decree for the next 10 years before his fortuitous demise on 11/11/04? Why can`t Abbas do the same thing? |
