Pretty much every Phonetic written language, with the the exception of one Korean language, evolved from a kind of Canaanite Cuneiform. While the direct language from this is Akkadian, Akkadian no longer exists and the closest language to it, which has versions of many of the texts making translation possible, texts describing things like The Tower of Babel, is Hebrew.
