If the British government,especially the Labour gov. of 1948 had had its way there would have been no State of Israel.A previous government had already given most of the Mandate away to an Arab adventurer just to keep him quiet,and that one gave even more,the West Bank and East Jerusalem,to him just because he seized them.Britain armed and even commanded the armies of Egypt,Trans-Jordan and Iraq,yet they still couldn`t conquer the Jewish areas.
Ever since,the Arabs have resented Britain for not giving them the whole Palestine Mandate on a plate instead of leaving them to do the job that they should have been capable of,but weren`t.
