| When I visited friends and relatives in Israel this summer I was shocked to see how many people held their phones to their ears constantly, in the bus, on the road, in the shops, restaurants, pushing the pram, just about everywhere. Often while sitting and talking to someone they would suddenly hold our conversation and pick up their phone or read their txt-messages. I found that very rude and showed people had no real interest in YOU, the one they were talking to, more important was to see who was sending some useless message. Some 15 years ago, while in HOlland hardly anyone had a mobile phone, in Israel nearly everyone already had. Once I sat in the bus, a girl`s phone rings but she did not pick it up in time, the number was obviously not made public, so she started dialing everyone she knew asking: hi, did you call me just now?!! Jeez, addiction is what I call it. |
