If the settlers are occupying property illegally, they can not at the same time expect the State of Israel to continue guarding them at massive cost to the taxpayers of Israel. Moreover, they are putting the lives of soldiers and police at risk without any consideration for the welfare of these official representatives.
Such actions are tantamount to treason and may eventually split Israel and result in sedition, rioting and possibly civil war.
Any violent actions against soldiers or police carrying out their duty as demanded by the High Court would be tantamount to a rebellion by the extremists of the settler movement. Prime Minister Olmert has recently warned these extremists, that the full force of the law would be employed against them if they carried on down this high risk path. They should not imagine this is a bluff! |
