| Broad operation?? What are they thinking? Barak and the IDF are well aware that 98% of kassam fire (and ALL kassams fired at Sderot and Ashkelon areas) are launched from the NorthEast corner of Gaza. They lack the range to be fired at these densely populated areas from anywhere else, there are no populous Israeli targets further south, and Hamas has very few smuggled Grads and can neither produce these locally (the fuel is too complex) or realistically extend the range of kassams. All that has ever needed to be done is to seize these this corner of northern Gaza, flatten it, disperse its 70-80.000 residents to the south, AND ANNEX IT FOR GOOD. The US won`t object, and who cares what the EU thinks! Seize a 3km-wide strip of southern Gaza farmland where the rest of the kassams come from, and problem over. Hamas knows nobody will complain if they shoot rockets from inside Gaza City - and Israel blasts it to pieces (as US forces did to rocket-firing towns in Iraq). |
