First Chief Rabbi Amar tried to undermine American Orthodox conversions, then his own Rabbinical High Court defied him and undermined his own conversion court. Now the Israeli public is fed up with their extremism and looks elsewhere for conversions. For people with a Jewish father who live in a Jewish state it should not be so difficult to become Jewish. It`s not like Jews living in the Diaspora for whom Shabbos and kashrus are problems and require mesiras nefesh.
