Cipora, when Israel became a nuclear power, the United States had been complicit in allowing it, despite our treaty obligations.

Israel did not announce it`s nuclear deterrent because the United States did not wish to be embarrassed.

That was long ago, and no one is fooled anymore.

The nebbish Olmert even blurted it out a year or two ago.

"i am ceratin that israel should not agree to allow herself to be defanged and left absolutely defenseless among enemies surrounding her on all sides."
- Cipora

Cipora, I am not suggesting Israel abandon it`s nuclear deterrent.

I do not even advocate it stop building nuclear weapons because I am not certain it has reached a point of craft which would allow it to ensure the current stockpile will remain viable long into the future.

Sorry if my position is nuanced by my knowledge.
