What a brilliant plan, Dr. David Albright! You want Obama to "take a number of measures" to convince "Israel to halt production of its nuclear weapons." Well, what about the 200+ nukes that Israel already has and the fact that Israel is not a signatory of the NPT (along with Cuba, India, Pakistan, and North Korea)?
The nuclear genie is out of the lamp and there`s no way to get him back in without a major war. Everybody (including NPT signatories) who can afford it and who want one are going to get the bomb and there`s no amount of "pressure", diplomacy, or economic sanctions imposed by the UN, the U.S., the EU, or anybody else that can stop it. So, it looks like we`ll all have to fall back on MAD (mutually assured destruction) and hope that the nuclear powers remain sane. |
